41 schools in and around Port of Spain will be closed tomorrow as Carnival activities ramp up in the capital.
According to a Guardian Media report, the Chief Education Officer, made the order, with a Ministry source confirming that the decision was to ease traffic congestion.
This, as multiple Carnival events are expected in the capital.
Classes for the 21 primary and 20 secondary schools within Port of Spain and environs are set to resume on Ash Wednesday, along with all other nationwide.
The primary schools are: Ascension AC; Belmont Boys’ RC; Belmont Girls’ RC; Belmont Government; Bethlehem Boys’ RC; Bethlehem Girls’ RC; Carenage Boys’ Government; Carenage Girls’ Government; Cascade School for the Deaf (Special); Cocorite Government; Crystal Stream Government; Diamond Vale Government; Diego Martin Boys’ RC; Diego Martin Government; Eastern Boys’ Government; Eastern Girls’ Government; Four Roads Government; Gaines Normal AME; Gloster Lodge Moravian; and La Puerta Government.
The secondary schools are: Belmont Secondary; St Francois Girls’ College; Fatima College; Russell Latapy; Belmont Boys Secondary; St James Secondary; St Joseph’s Convent; Queen’s Royal College; Success Laventille Secondary; St Mary’s College; Bishop Anstey Girls’ High School; Tranquillity Secondary School; Mucurapo West Secondary School; St Anthony’s College; South East Port of Spain; Providence Girls’ Catholic School; Woodbrook Secondary School; Morvant Laventille Secondary School; and Trinity College
