Ten people have been arrested following a driving under the influence crackdown in Port of Spain.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says the early-morning exercise was conducted along Park Street between midnight and 6 a.m. on Sunday.

All ten were held for breath alcohol levels exceeding the legal limit.

Officers also searched 39 vehicles during the operation but found no illegal firearms or ammunition.

Meanwhile, police have seized drugs, firearms and ammunition during several anti-crime operations across Trinidad over the weekend.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service says officers recovered 210 grammes of cannabis and five rounds of ammunition during Operation Steadfast in Port of Spain.

In St Joseph, police also seized a homemade shotgun and ammunition in a bushy area along Farm Road.

Meanwhile, two suspects were arrested in Sangre Grande after officers found 25.5 kilogrammes of cannabis valued at about 750 thousand dollars.
