Two women celebrate their 100th birthdays

Two women, one originally from Laventille and the other from Arima, have celebrated their 100th birthdays.

Ms. Una Griffith turned 100 on March 9th, 2024 while Ms Rookmin Ramesar reached the milestone on January 24th, 2024.

Ms Griffith credited “trusting in God and being committed and pleasant” as the keys to her longevity.

Recalling her own time, she expressed that people were kinder to one another and lamented that this attribute rarely exists today as the atmosphere is filled with anger, bitterness, violence, and selfishness.

Ms Ramesar, originally from Maturita, Arima, was married to Mr. Ramesar Algoo for 60 years before his passing in 1999.

The mother of 11, grandmother of eighteen 18, and great-grandmother of twenty-two 22 loves fruits and vegetables and maintains “a very healthy appetite.”

The Social Development Ministry says to register for the National Centenarian Programme, persons can visit www.social.gov.tt to complete the online form or print a downloadable form for completion.
