Well Services gives update on Rig 110 salvage and recovery operations

Well Services will have to wait until September 18th to know if the EMA will grant a Certificate of Environmental Clearance to begin salvage and recovery operations for Rig 110.

The rig partially collapsed on December 22nd last year, claiming the life of Pete Phillip, whose body has still not been found.

A release from the company today said the EMA confirmed an Environmental Impact Assessment is not needed.

However, due to specific CEC rules, a determination to grant the clearance certificate will be made 30 working days from August 6th.

The company added that a specialized barge equipped for salvage and recovery has been in local waters since August 8th, adding it is ready to mobilize as soon as all required regulatory approvals are granted.
