The Trinidad and Tobago Blind Welfare Association is calling on Government to ensure that the upcoming 2025–2026 National Budget is inclusive, equitable, and based on human rights.

Executive Officer Kenneth Suratt says a disability-inclusive budget is not charity but a matter of national responsibility.

He’s urging sustainable funding for the Association’s rehabilitation and training services, which empower blind and visually impaired citizens to live and work independently.

The TTBWA also wants an increase in the Disability Assistance Grant to reflect local living costs, expanded access to sight-saving medication under the CDAP programme, and investment in accessible transport, education, and digital technology.

Suratt says inclusion is development, and a rights-based budget will strengthen the economy while building a fairer, more resilient society.
