Works Ministry Onboarding

The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure today began onboarding its second cohort of casual workers, under Phase Two of its recruitment programme.

This exercise was carried out at the National Cycling Velodrome in Couva.

This follows the October 2025 National Recruitment Drive and is aimed at expanding the Ministry’s operational workforce.

Minister Jearlean John says the programme is performance-based, with workers required to meet certain standards to remain and qualify for future opportunities.

Workers are being deployed to key areas, including highway maintenance, vegetation control and drainage works ahead of the rainy season.

Since December, crews have been active at major locations including the Grand Bazaar Interchange, Piarco Intersection, the Uriah Butler Highway and the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway.
