Venezuela says President Nicolas Maduro has announced the immediate termination of all natural gas contracts with Trinidad and Tobago.

This came in a statement today, which was posted on the Embassy of Venezuela to Trinidad and Tobago’s Facebook page.

It said the decision comes after allegations of Trinidad and Tobago’s involvement in “the theft of Venezuelan oil committed by the US on December 10th”, citing it as an act of piracy.

Venezuela condemned the actions as a violation of international law and further criticized Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar for her government’s actions, which it views as an aggressive stance against Venezuela.

The statement was also shared by Vice President Delcy Rodriguez on her Instagram profile.
