Venezuela is urging Trinidad and Tobago not to allow its territory to be used for maneuvers that could threaten Caribbean peace.

This call was made today by Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yván Gil, amid escalating tensions with the US over military deployments in the region.

In a Telegram post, the Minister warned of a potential “false flag” operation involving a U.S. military ship, allegedly organized by the CIA, which would be falsely blamed on Venezuela to justify aggression.

He urged Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to choose peace, cautioning that failure to do so could entangle the country in a covert U.S. operation.

Mr Gil reiterated that Venezuela will defend its sovereignty but will not be provoked, adding that a criminal cell linked to the operation is currently being dismantled in Venezuela.
