Venezuela’s Defence Ministry has announced a “massive deployment” of land, sea, air, river and missile forces as well as civilian militia.
A release, issued earlier today, said the move is in compliance with orders from President Nicolás Maduro, to strengthen defense measures and secure national borders.
It began today at 4AM and will continue until tomorrow, as part of a higher phase of the 200th Independence Plan.
Minister Vladimir Padrino López reaffirmed the country’s commitment to defending Venezuela’s sovereignty, freedom and stability.
The US recently ordered the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier to this region, in addition to the already deployed F-35 warplanes and US Navy ships, as part of what it calls counter-narcotics efforts.
