The University of the West Indies (UWI) is set to hold its 2026 Council Meeting at the St. Augustine campus on Wednesday, March 25, marking a key milestone in its annual cycle of governance sessions.
The meeting will review the 2024–2025 academic year, with campus leadership presenting updates on research, student engagement, and operational performance.
The St. Augustine session follows meetings at UWI’s Mona, Cave Hill, Global, and Five Islands campuses, as well as the University-wide Council Meeting scheduled for May 8.
As a publicly funded institution serving 17 Caribbean governments, UWI’s Council Meetings are a cornerstone of transparency and accountability, with presentations broadcast live via UWItv and interactive media channels, allowing both the public and press to engage directly with campus administrators.
This year’s review comes on the heels of UWI’s recognition in the Times Higher Education rankings, placing the university among the top 3.6% globally.
Principal Professor Densil Williams will lead discussions on strategic priorities, while stakeholders will have opportunities to question leadership during dedicated Q&A segments.
UWI continues to affirm its role as a regional leader in higher education, research, and development, showcasing a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the holistic advancement of Caribbean society.
