Justice Peter Jamadar is the featured speaker at a University of the West Indies event exploring the approach the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) takes to constitutional interpretation.

The event is set for Tuesday March 24 at Lecture Theatre E, Teaching and Learning Complex, at the UWI St Augustine Campus.

Justice Jamadar, who is a Judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice, headlines a session that aims to deepen understanding of constitutional law in the Commonwealth Caribbean.

Authorities say that constitutional interpretation shapes the fundamental rights in the Commonwealth Caribbean.

The CCJ plays a defining role in how these principles are applied to modern society.

Justice Jamadar was sworn in as a Judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice on July 4, 2019 and formally assumed duties on July 15, 2019.

He serves on several CCJ court-appointed committees, including the Harassment Policy Sensitization Committee, the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, and the Education and Training Committee.

He remains committed to research and evidence-based developmental initiatives in the law and justice sectors and is passionate about the indigenous advancement of Caribbean jurisprudence.
