Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander says US officials have provided Trinidad and Tobago with a list of “persons of interest” in Trinidad and Tobago connected to illegal drugs, guns, and violence.

Minister Alexander did not give any details on the number of individuals involved, their roles, or whether arrests or investigations were underway due to national security concerns.

The Homeland Security Minister praised the initiative and said the US has confidence in working with the Kamla Persad-Bissessar administration to combat narco-trafficking and organized crime.

“They know exactly who they can work with and who they can trust with respect to their security efforts and combating cartels and narco-traffickers,” Mr Alexander told the Express.

Trinidad and Tobago recently joined the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition, an initiative led by US President Donald Trump to coordinate intelligence sharing, law enforcement, and military cooperation among regional partners.

The Coalition includes plans for training and mobilizing partner nation military forces to dismantle drug cartels.
