The United Nations Development Programme, with funding from the European Union, has launched a targeted training programme aimed at strengthening the efficiency of the criminal justice system in Trinidad and Tobago.
The AJIPA Compliant Statement Training Programme was officially launched today at the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Academy.
The initiative is designed to improve the preparation of prosecution witness statements in line with the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Act.
The launch was attended by senior representatives from the UNDP, the European Union, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, members of the Judiciary and other key criminal justice stakeholders, signalling strong collaboration across institutions.
The training forms part of the PACE Justice Project and is expected to reduce procedural delays, support timely sufficiency hearings and help ease case backlogs before the courts.
