The United National Congress Women’s Arm is condemning what it describes as a misogynistic attack on Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
In a statement, the group criticized comments made on social media by Opposition Senator Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, calling the language vile, disrespectful and offensive to women.
The UNC Women’s Arm says the remarks undermine respectful political discourse and send the wrong message about the treatment of women in leadership.
It is calling on Gadsby-Dolly to retract the statements and issue a public apology to the Prime Minister and to the women of Trinidad and Tobago.
