The United States has announced a major $150-million agreement with Zipline International to expand drone delivery of life-saving medical supplies across five African nations.
The State Department says the deal will support American-made robotics to reach up to 15,000 health facilities in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and Rwanda—especially in rural areas where medical logistics are slow or unreliable.
The initiative, launched under the America First Global Health Strategy, aims to strengthen emergency response to infectious diseases while creating jobs in the U.S. and Africa.
Officials say the public-private partnership marks a new era of diplomacy, leveraging AI and autonomous logistics to build stronger, more resilient health systems.
The State Department adds the agreement also helps expand markets for U.S. technology and counters competing debt-financed infrastructure projects.
