PTSC bus crash 190825

A bus driver and a passenger were killed when a PTSC bus hit the back of a flat-bed truck in Freeport this morning.

The accident happened shortly before 8am along the southbound lane of the Solomon Hochoy Highway.

The bus driver has reportedly been identified as Munsaf Khan, while the passenger is said to be a SWAT officer named Roxanne Phillip.

Following the collision, the bus came to a stop on the grass off the highway.

Injured passengers eventually escaped by climbing through a window, since the doors could not be opened.

The scene was visited by Transport Minister Eli Zakour and Homeland Security Minister Roger Alexander.

Minister Zakour says they have received preliminary reports from the relevant Authorities and the PTSC on the incident. He also emphasized the importance of observing speed limits, obeying traffic regulations and respecting fellow road users.

The incident caused a traffic backup on the highway, as at least eight ambulances, fire trucks and other authorities were called to the scene.
