The TTPS is warning of a scam involving the impersonation of the Works Minister Jearlean John.

It says reports indicate that citizens have received unsolicited messages from individuals using profiles that falsely claim to be the Minister, requesting that funds be transferred to an account at RBC.

The TTPS says no money should be transferred to this account, or to any account belonging to individuals purporting to be the Minister or other high-profile persons.

It adds that members of the public should exercise caution when conducting financial transactions and to make every effort to verify and confirm the identity of individuals through official channels before engaging in any business.

Persons who believe they are a victim of this or similar scams, are advised to make a report to the Fraud Squad at 612-2470 ext 15020/15021.
