TTPS Carnival 2026

The TTPS says it is committed to ensuring a secure, enjoyable, and incident-free Carnival 2026.

Yesterday, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Suzette Martin, Gold Commander for Carnival 2026, convened a high-level stakeholder engagement meeting at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.

Deliberations focused on critical operational and regulatory matters, including: band registration processes, parade routes and approvals, truck specifications and licensing requirements, judging and scoring systems, penalties and compliance frameworks, band size classifications, band categories and competition divisions, and operational challenges impacting parade logistics.

Band leaders reportedly expressed concerns regarding parade route management and recurring logistical challenges that arise periodically during Carnival operations.

In response, DCP Martin emphasized the importance of early registration, route compliance, and inter-agency coordination, and reaffirmed the TTPS’ commitment to working collaboratively to resolve operational bottlenecks.

Band leaders were also reminded that all music trucks must meet TTPS and Transport Division specifications, that appropriate licensing and permits remain mandatory and that compliance with safety regulations and public road-use policies is non-negotiable.
