The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) has told a Joint Select Committee that it has expanded high-performance youth programs to identity talent in at-risk and rural communities.
TTFA 3rd Vice-President Jameson Rigues told the parliamentary committee that several young players have been identified through these community coaching programs, and they have gone on to gain selection to national teams.
However, committee members pressed the TTFA for concrete data on how many players have benefitted during the last five years.
The TTFA has committed to providing the information in writing.
The Football association also reported resource and staffing shortages due to a severe cut in government subventions during the past five years.
