The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association says it has parted ways with Soca Warriors head coach Dwight Yorke, with the termination of his contract reached by mutual agreement.
According to the TTFA, discussions were held with Yorke regarding his future with the senior men’s national team, including revised contract terms and remuneration.
However, both sides were ultimately unable to reach an agreement.
Despite the split, the association says the door remains open for possible dialogue with Yorke in the future.
Meanwhile, former national coach Terry Fenwick says he is not surprised by Yorke’s departure.
The former England defender believes Yorke’s team selections during the unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign contributed to the outcome.
“I think that is something we were expecting,” Fenwick told 103.1FM News. “It can’t be all one-way traffic. He’s gone 15 games with only one win, and also we brought in so many players under the (“grandfather law”).”
“The last two or three games, I’ve seen better players on the ground here in Trinidad than we were actually bringing in and were starting for our national side.”
