The T&T Cricket Board says it is satisfied with the process used by Cricket West Indies to allocate international and regional matches to its regional territories.

Today, TTCB Treasurer, Stephen Ramkissoon, responded to the Barbados Cricket Association’s Calvin Hope, who strongly criticized CWI for not considering Kensington Oval for any international or First Class matches in 2026.

West Indies will stage four Tests, six One-Day Internationals and six T20 Internationals between June and August, hosting Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Pakistan.

The venues selected for these: Jamaica, Antigua, Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago.

TTCB treasurer said factors considered include: cost for accommodation, security, catering and other services, with the teams also sometimes indicating their preference for a particular venue.

All in all, Mr Ramkissoon said the TTCB is satisfied that CWI ensures that the allocation of matches justifies the significant investment that territorial Governments make in hosting international and First Class matches.
He also commended the body for ensuring equity and transparency considering the limited number of matches and exponential number of venues.

Mr Ramkissoon added, “We will all agree that Barbados has had its fair share of Test matches, at the expense of Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago but you do not hear those territories complaining because they understand the delicate balancing act the CWI must navigate.”
