Trinidad and Tobago hurdler Jenna Marie Thomas was all smiles on her return home on Tuesday after winning to individual medals at the 2026 CARIFTA Games.
She broke the national U20 record in the 100m hurdles to win a silver medal in the event and also took bronze in the 400m hurdles.
“That was the goal, to go there and get on the podium, and I was able to do that twice in two individual events. I could not be more grateful,” she told TTT News.
“(The record) was not really something I was focused on. I was focused on getting personal bests. I know with that would come records and medals. It feels amazing, writing my name down in that history book.”
Sprinter Eden Chee Wah said she had a good experience after winning a bronze medal in the Girls U17 4x100m relay, her third medal at the Championships.
“I tried my best. I put out all my best and I am happy with my results,” she said.
Chee Wah was disappointed with her fourth place finish the 200m dash.
“Everything happens for a reason, and I am just taking it step by step and hopefully next year, i can put in more work and make the podium,” she said.
“I kind of used the frustration from the 200m to help me push more and it makes me proud.”
Trinidad and Tobago won 35 medals at the 2026 CARIFTA Games, the best performance by the national team since 2010.
The team was warmly welcomed home at the Piarco International Airport and at the ANR Robinson International Airport.
