Major changes are coming to Trinidad and Tobago’s immigration policy.
The Government has announced an expansion of the Migrant Registration Framework to now include all eligible illegal immigrants, moving beyond the previous focus on Venezuelan nationals.
Under new legal notices, registered migrants can live and work legally from January 1st to September 30th, 2026.
This expansion also recognizes the children of permit holders.
However, the Ministry of Homeland Security warns that this comes with tighter security—recommending immediate deportation for any migrants deemed “high-risk” or who have committed criminal offenses.
Registration begins this January.
