Trinidad and Tobago gave up four goals in the last 30 minutes to lose 4-1 to Venezuela in their FIFA Series match in Uzbekistan on Friday morning.
After a goalless first half, Reon Moore gave Trinidad and Tobago the lead in the 52nd minute, T&T’s first goal against Venezuela since July 2003.
However, the goal seemed only to spur La Vinotinto into action as they equalize in the 60th minute through Delvin Alfonzo.
The Venezuelan defender was on hand to strike home the go-ahead goal seven minute later before the South Americans secured the win with two late goals.
Skipper Solomon Rondon notched both goals to seal victory with five minutes to go.
The loss was the second in a row for head coach Derek King, who took over from Dwight Yorke earlier this month.
Trinidad and Tobago play Gabon on March 30 in their second game of the series.
The loss was Trinidad and Tobago’s worst loss to Venezuela in seven international matches since November 1971.
Trinidad and Tobago has never beaten Venezuela in an international match, with four losses and three draws in seven matches, including Friday’s encounter.
