Representatives of European, Latin American and Caribbean nations are meeting in the second day of a two-day summit in Colombia to try to strengthen ties.

Columbia has indicated it will seek the signing of a declaration on renewable energy, food security, financing and technology cooperation at the end of the summit.

However, it is expected that US military operations targeting alleged drug-carrying vessels will be a key point of discussion.

Trinidad and Tobago is represented at the summit with Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Nicholas Morris, leading the delegation.

The 4th Summit of Heads of Government CELAC (Community of Latin American & Caribbean States) is taking place in Santa Marta, Colombia.
