Tobago’s Minority Leader Kelvon Morris has described the Prime Minister’s upcoming address on Tobago’s autonomy as “political theatre” with “grand announcements and empty promises.”

In a statement, he warned against politicizing autonomy during an election period and called for a “Tobago First” approach that prioritizes local contractors, youth empowerment, and transparency.

He also announced plans to move a Private Motion against THA Leader Farley Augustine on Thursday, accusing him of blocking $4 billion in budget allocations since 2021.

Mr Morris also questioned why the ANR Robinson International Airport remains unopened, why tourism lags behind other islands, and challenged the Prime Minister’s stance on CEPEP and URP, programs she previously described as “modern-day slavery” in Trinidad.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar arrived in Tobago with a small ministerial delegation for her first official visit since returning to office.

She is scheduled to address the Assembly Legislature in Scarborough this afternoon, highlighting initiatives on autonomy, governance, and economic opportunities.
