Public Transit Lounge

Tobago celebrated a milestone in public transport this week with the launch of its first-ever Public Transit Lounge at Gardenside Street.

The modern facility, featuring air-conditioned comfort, ergonomic seating, Wi-Fi, and digital monitors displaying bus schedules, is aimed at bringing dignity and convenience to commuters from the Eastern and North-Eastern districts.

The initiative, envisioned by Kyron Reid of Touch Tobago Live and supported by the Tobago House of Assembly, is part of a broader effort to modernize public transport facilities across the island.

Public Infrastructure Secretary Nathisha Charles-Pantin said the lounge reflects “care, intention, and respect for those who rely on public transport every single day,” transforming once-forgotten bus corners into attractive, community-focused spaces.

Assembly Member Orlando Kerr, under whose purview the Adopt-a-Bus Shed Programme was initiated, was also present at the brief commissioning ceremony.

Tobago’s Blueprint for modern public infrastructure continues to roll out, promising more upgraded facilities for commuters across the island.
