Minister of Planning Kennedy Swaratsingh says the EximBank required urgent intervention, with leadership changes being part of that process.
His remarks follow concerns in the business community after EximBank CEO Navin Dookeran was removed last Friday.
Minister Swarathsingh emphasized that the decision to dismiss Dookeran was made by the Bank’s Board of Directors, not the Government.
The new EximBank board received its instruments of appointment on September 25th, headed by Chairman, Edwin Chariah and deputy chairman Suresh Maharaj.
