A 57-year-old surfer succumbed to shark bite injuries after an attack on Sunday, in Sydney, Australia.
Since then, several of the Northern Beaches in that area have been closed to monitor the waters.
According to BBC News, police said the incident occurred about 100 metres off the shore and resulted in the victim losing a “number of limbs.”
Australian biologists said the attack was most likely by a great white shark, measuring up to 12 feet.
This the first fatal shark attack in Sydney since 2022.
