The 2026 Primary Schools Cricket Programme was officially launched today in a lively morning event hosted by SporTT and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.
SporTT Chairman Kester Lendor set the tone for the day, while TTCB 1st Vice President Altaf Baksh offered greetings. Lyndell Hoyte-Sanchez, Head of Community Sports at SporTT, presented a full programme breakdown.
Sport Ambassador Nicholas Pooran inspired young cricketers, urging them to dream big, stay disciplined, and believe their journey in cricket can begin right now.
Curriculum Officer Inshan Mohammed highlighted the educational value of such initiatives, followed by testimonials from Principal Nigel Mohammed and Standard Three pupil Ethan Tobias of Balmain Presbyterian, sharing the programme’s impact.
Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, The Honourable Phillip Watts, delivered the feature address, emphasizing the national push to grow cricket from the grassroots.
Schools in attendance included Diego Martin Boys’ RC, Diego Martin Government Primary, La Horquetta South Primary, and Balmain Presbyterian.
The five-month programme continues SporTT’s mission to develop cricket, build skills, and nurture a love for the game across Trinidad and Tobago.
