Communities most affected by recurring sargassum influxes will soon benefit from specialized equipment.
The keys for the tractors to improve national sargassum management were handed over to the Local Government Ministry by Japan’s Embassy during a ceremony this morning.
These units will be deployed to the Sangre Grande and the Mayaro/Rio Claro Regional Corporations to advance sustainable coastal management.
Under a UNDP implemented programme, Japan continues to provide both onshore and offshore equipment and requisite training to strengthen the national response to sargassum.
