Opposition MP Dominic Romain has criticized the Traffic Amendment Bill as unfair and unrealistic for many citizens.
The Malabar/Mausica MP highlighted the high cost and long delays in obtaining vehicle parts as a major stumbling block in the legislation.
MP Romain warned that the increase in road fines may encourage fraud rather than compliance.
He also objected to what he called “harsh” penalties for permit renewals and limited grace periods.
The Opposition MP said that the Bill places an excessive burden on ordinary people and breaks the government’s promise to be people-centered.
