Chutney-Soca star Ravi B has issued a formal apology and promised full refunds to patrons who were locked out of his sold-out “REUNION” event on Saturday night at Tantra Terraces.
Despite the high energy inside the venue—which featured performances by Voice, Patrice Roberts, and Shal Marshall—the night was marred for dozens of supporters who found themselves stuck outside after authorities ordered the gates to be closed.
In an official statement released on February 8th, Ravi B addressed rumors of ticket overselling, clarifying that the event was planned within the venue’s legal capacity.
He attributed the shutdown to strict instructions from law enforcement and fire services.
“At a certain point, the authorities instructed that the gates be locked and entry was halted in compliance with those instructions,” the statement read. “As difficult as this was, we had to comply… We respect the rule of law.”
The Fire Service reportedly intervened to prevent overcrowding as the venue reached its limit, a move that left many fans with valid tickets frustrated on the Eastern Main Road.
Recognizing the disappointment of his hometown crowd, Ravi B—who was recently honored by the Sangre Grande Festival Committee as a “Soca Superstar”—assured fans that their money would not go to waste.
While the “REUNION” event has been a staple for the past three years, this is the first time it has faced such significant logistical hurdles.
Ravi B concluded his statement by reaffirming his commitment to his “Sangre Grande people,” promising to do right by those who have supported him since day one.
