Ramps Logistics says it has successfully has prevented a suspected fraudulent Business Email Compromise attempt.
In a Facebook post, the company said between November 5th and December 5th, the scam involved a ‘new customer’ who claimed to have accidentally overpaid and urgently requested a refund.
They tried to scam the company into returning nearly USD $28,000, however, due to strong cybersecurity measures and internal controls, the attempt was blocked, and no loss occurred.
Ramps has cautioned businesses of similar scams, urging them to verify any overpayment requests before issuing refunds, especially when urgency is involved.
