Authorities are investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate at the Port of Spain prison that happened yesterday.
In a release issued today, the T&T Prison Service said officers discovered the individual hanging in his cell during their rounds and immediately engaged established protocols.
However, despite immediate first aid from Medical Services, the inmate was pronounced dead.
The inmate’s next of kin has since been notified of the incident by a Welfare Officer.
