Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar continued her longstanding tradition of spiritual fellowship and community engagement on the sacred night of Sunday into Monday, making nine visits to Hindu temples across her constituency in observance of Maha Shivaratri 2026.
At each stop, the Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by residents and devotees—communities she has faithfully visited for more than two decades during her service as Member of Parliament. Over the years, she has consistently joined constituents in prayer, reflection, and celebration on this holy occasion.
Throughout the night, Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar offered words of encouragement and gratitude to those in attendance and extended heartfelt wishes for Lord Shiva’s blessings upon all present and upon the nation. She also urged parents to continue instilling strong moral values in their children, stressing that education remains the most powerful pathway out of poverty and a key foundation for building responsible citizens and a stronger society.

Joined by various local government representatives, the Prime Minister concluded her final visit well after 2:00 a.m. on Monday morning. The late finish underscored her continued dedication to maintaining close ties with her constituents and her commitment to participating fully in important cultural and spiritual observances within the community.
