Prime Minister hails young citizens as “today’s agents of change”

On the occasion of International Youth Day 2025 today, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has hailed young citizens as “today’s agents of change”.

She adds that they are responsible for driving sustainable development and digital transformation.

The PM highlighted recent measures to protect youth, including raising the legal drinking age to 21 and the gambling and marijuana-use age to 25.

Plans ahead include major investment in technical, vocational, and digital-skills training, expanded support for youth entrepreneurship and wider access to mentorship and safe innovation spaces to ensure their voices are heard and talents nurtured.
