A series of social media posts have resulted in a court ordered award of $417,500 to a primary school principal.

According to reports, Spring Village Hindu School principal Susan Ragoonanan filed a case against Antonio Ranjitsingh, who operates Trini Crime News TT.

She accused him of defamation in the posts shared on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok between June and August 2025.

This week, High Court Judge Devindra Rampersad ruled that the posts attacked Ms Ragoonanan’s professional integrity, character and fitness to serve as principal, and so, were defamatory.

He awarded $360,000 in damages and $57,500 in legal costs, and granted a permanent injunction barring the re-publication of the statements in question.

The judge also granted a 30-day stay of execution on the award of damages, allowing Mr Ranjitsingh one month to pay or appeal.
