President Nicolas Maduro has declared there is no way the US can enter Venezuela, as he rallies his citizens to defend their national sovereignty.
He directly addressed potential US intervention while speaking at a military ceremony in Caracas while wearing a military uniform yesterday.
President Maduro declared that they have gathered more “national and international support”, noting Colombia’s deployment of an additional 25,000 militia to its borders.
On Tuesday, Venezuela petitioned the United Nations to intervene in the dispute by demanding “the immediate cessation of the U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean.”
While the US has no made no public threat to invade, more than 4,000 military personnel and several war ships have been deployed to the region and Venezuela has since responded by sending warships and drones to patrol its coastline.
