SCAM ALERT

The Port Authority is warning the public about fraudulent text messages being sent to customers, requesting payment for the release of cargo.

In a media release, the Authority says the messages are unauthorized and did not originate from the Port or its employees.

It adds that it does not request payments via text messages, WhatsApp, or other informal electronic platforms.

The matter has been referred to the relevant authorities for investigation, and customers who receive such messages are urged not to make any payments, avoid engaging with the sender, and report the incident to the police and the Port Authority.
