A swift police response early this morning foiled an attempted supermarket break-at Five Rivers, Arouca.
Just after 4:30, officers rushed to Better Bulk Supermarket on 1st Street, following reports of suspicious activity.
They were alerted to a hooded man seen on the roof of the building, who tried to escape by climbing a nearby fence.
The suspect, a 39-year-old man of Five Rivers, was surrounded in a neighbouring yard and arrested.
He was treated for minor injuries at the Arima Hospital and discharged once more into police custody.
