Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has launched a sharp attack on the PNM in a post on X, asking, quote, “Why does the PNM hate our citizens but love the local drug mafia?”
She alleged that the “PNM hierarchy” is more concerned with protecting drug-mafia financiers than safeguarding vulnerable communities.
The Prime Minister cited crime figures from 2015 to 2025, claiming more than 124,000 crimes, including over 5,000 murders and nearly 9,000 rapes and sexual assaults under the Rowley administration.
She accused the PNM of blocking decisive security action in areas bearing the brunt of gang violence.
She said most victims were young Afro-Trinidadian men, in Afro-dominated communities, many in PNM strongholds.
