Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says her government wants to clamp down on home invasions, vehicle thefts and robberies.
Speaking to the Trinidad Express, the Prime Minister said citizens are not feeling a decrease in fear due to years of trauma from violent crime and murders.
Mrs Persad-Bissessar said her administration work harder to improve on the gains made.
She added that her government will bring the stand-your-ground laws and legislation to make legal firearms more accessible.
The Prime Minister was responding to questions about a home invasion close to her private residence where a family of seven was brutally attacked by armed men.
