The Prime Minister has issued a stern warning to Caribbean Airlines to fix its operations.
Mrs Kamla Persad Bissessar claimed none of CAL’s existing routes are profitable and gave the airline’s management two years to turn things around or face consequences.
She also disclosed that despite having 86 employees in its Finance Department, $60 million was allegedly spent on external audits.
She added that “failing state enterprises will not continue to receive bailouts from the government”, signalling a tougher stance on underperforming state enterprises and the misuse of public funds.
