Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar will meet with US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, ahead of the CARICOM Heads of Government meeting.
The PM reportedly said the US requested the bilateral meeting, with discussions to focus on national security cooperation, economic interests, and OFAC licences relating to Venezuela and Cuba.
Mr Rubio is also a specially invited guest for the CARICOM meeting which runs from February 24th to 27th.
It will be presided over by St Kitts & Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew and is themed “Beyond Words: Action Today for a Thriving, Sustainable CARICOM,”.
The Prime Minister left for the meeting yesterday afternoon, accompanied by THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine.
Works Minister Jearlean John is acting as Prime Minister in her absence.
