Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says today’s signing ceremony for several deepwater blocks will be the first of many, as her Government intends to revitalize the energy sector.
Pen was put to paper, to confirm ExxonMobil’s return to T&T after an absence of 22 years, with a production sharing contract for Block TTUD1.
Speaking during this time, Mrs Persad-Bissessar said the overall renewal agenda will include an attractive fiscal framework and improvements for the ease-of-doing-business
Mrs Persad-Bissessar said while T&T is often described as a mature hydrocarbon province, it still holds extensive, unexplored deepwater acreage.
As a result, she said a specific mandate has been given to the Energy Ministry.
