Soca artiste Patrice Roberts has been ordered to pay more than 30 thousand US dollars to her former management company following a High Court ruling.
Justice Robin Mohammed found that while key terms of the oral agreement were unclear, the artiste benefited from services provided by Soca Bookings Incorporated between 2015 and 2017.
The court awarded the company over 30 thousand US dollars under equitable principles, but Roberts successfully counterclaimed 9 thousand US dollars in unpaid digital royalties.
The judge also cautioned about the risks of informal agreements in the entertainment industry.
