Leader of the Patriotic Front, Mikela Panday, is calling for the release of the CEPEP audit, questioning how the new initiative could be considered a reform without it.

In a release issued today, Ms Panday said without the audit, it remains unclear how the new program addresses the issues that led to CEPEP’s shutdown, calling the changes into question and urging the government to show real transparency.

She criticized the Government’s new program, “the National Programme for the Upkeep of Public Spaces”, as resembling CEPEP, and urged the government to prove that real reform, not just rebranding, has occurred.

In June, the Government shut down CEPEP, citing alleged irregularities and the need for an audit to restore accountability, however despite allocating $7 million to wind up operations, no completed audit has yet been published.
