Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will be awarded the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago during his first official visit to the country this week.

The announcement in statement from the Office of the Prime Minister which said this comes as a tribute of the nation’s appreciation for his outstanding contribution to T&T’s development.

Prime Minister Modi’s leadership has fostered closer ties in the sixty-three-year relationship between both countries, at bilateral and multilateral levels.

Mr Modi will arrive shortly after 3pm Thursday for a two-day visit to Trinidad and Tobago.

According to an itinerary unveiled by the Government earlier today, he will attend a Community Diaspora Event at the National Cycling Velodrome in Couva.

On Friday, Mr Modi will pay a courtesy call to President Christine Kangaloo, after which he will address a Joint Assembly of the Parliament at 10:35am.

Following this, there will be an exchange of Memoranda of Understanding and a Tree Planting Ceremony at the Parliamentary Complex.

Prime Minister Modi will then head to Argentina for an official visit, then to Brazil for the 2025 BRICS Summit from July 5th to 8th.
