The Opposition walked out of Parliament today, following a heated exchange between House Speaker and several Opposition members.

This, after Oropouche East MP Dr. Roodal Moonilal called for the end of a debate on a private motion, filed by the Opposition, regarding the socio-economic impact of rising unemployment.

Despite protests from the Opposition, Speaker Jagdeo ruled in favor of Dr. Moonilal’s decision.

This prompted members of the Opposition, including Port of Spain South MP Keith Scotland and Diego Martin Central MP Symon de Nobriga, to raise that not everyone spoke on the motion.

The vote was not passed.
